Due to our dependence on the arrival of the security clearance, and considering that in the meantime we have had much progress in the examination of our sectors, monuments, and materials, we decided to have a workshop with some talks, practices, and updates regarding the MKTP. This workshop started today and will last for the next four days. In the morning, the archeologist responsible for the excavation of Ipi´s complex, Mohamed Osman, offered an intensive course (theoretical and practical) on the use of the total station, focusing on the fundamental elements in our tombs: reference points, structures, methodology, communication with the responsible for object registration, etc.
In the afternoon, the responsibles for the epigraphy in Ipi and Henenu, Dina Serova and Carlos Gracia with Jónatan Ortiz respectively, offered a very significant talk on the problems and progress with the texts and decoration in both tombs. It seems clear that, on the one hand, there is much to do in these two monuments and, on the other, we are in the right track to provide some new data on the career of these two officials and their role in the construction of the Middle Kingdom.
Besides, Marta Arranz has been working with the moudir Antonio in the organization of materials as well as on the publication text that we should complete in a few days. The students of the UAH, our engineer Inma López, and our photographer, Patri Mora, visited the temple of Medinet Habu to analyze some of the scenes and texts from this temple dedicated to Ramses III. No doubt, the references to and representations of the famous Sea Peoples in sea battles on the walls of the Ramesside temple caught the attention of the youngest members of the MKTP team.
