Although today has been the first weekend with almost everyone settled in Luxor, we have taken things without hurrying due to the long interval waiting for the permissions and our amenable work at the headquarters in the Marsam. In a way, we feel that we would like to start instead of enjoying a weekend in the town. Let´s hope that the preparations, plans, and modifications that we have decided in the last days will help to resolve part of our working issues at the site in the next two or three weeks.
Today, after breakfast, we started the weekend with a meeting for the newcomers, mainly the five students of the UAH and the expert on 3D scanner, Inma López, who got some of the explanations given by the moudir to the rest of the team in the last days, so that they can be aware of the various modifications in our plans. Then, we left the Marsam Hotel to cross the Nile in motorboat and dock directly on the frontal part of the temple of Karnak. Despite the landscape modifications due to the urban planning, this trip has been very interesting because one can dock directly in the central access to the temple of Karnak. Although we notice an increasing number of foreigners, it seems that the quantity is still not the same as in previous times. The complex of Amun in Karnak is a clear example: many foreign visitors could be seen going into the chambers, rooms, courtyards, and galleries of the temple, but they were not as many as in other occasions. In our case, the team was divided into two groups, with a group of senior scholars looking for very particular details in the temple while the group with the junior scholars and students attended the introduction into the temple offered by Antonio.
