Miguel Ángel López Marcos studied Prehistory and Archaeology at the University Autonoma of Madrid (1987) and the BA in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritahe in the Department of Archaeology at the same institution (1987). He is a professional archaeologist with 35 years of experience in the development and application of techniques and methodologies in the archaeological survey, excavation and documentation, as well as restoration and conservation of the archaeological and monumental heritage in Spain as well as abroad (Italy, Marocco, Egypt).
Miguel Ángel has directed or participated in 75 research projects and intervention initiatives in Spain as well as abroad, including work with pre-Roman fortresses, medieval castles, Roman settlements, Calcolithic sites, Phoenician necropoles, etc. His experience in Egypt is wide and multiple in different types of sites that required various solutions: documentation and reconstruction of the Memnon Colossi and Amenhotep III’s new statues at Kom el-Hettan (2004-2021), work in the village of workers at Deir el-Medina (2007), participation in the works at the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid valley temple of Snofru at Dahshur (2003-2005), and work at the site of Herakleopolis Magna (2000-2002).
